Thera Adam-van Straaten

Thera is a specialist in intellectual property & adverting law and in addition also handles IP-related issues such as domain names, license agreements and sponsor agreements.

Thera’s clients include a considerable number of leading fashion and media enterprises. Thera also assists companies in the fast moving consumer goods sector in matters related to advertising and labelling.

Thera is member and treasurer of the board of the Benelux association for Trademarks and Design Law and a member of the international trademark owners association ‘Marques’, the Association for Advertising law and the Dutch Association for Food law. Thera has many publications to her name.

Thera studied at Oxford Brookes University for a year after which she graduated from the law faculty of Utrecht University in 1998. From 1998 until 2004 Thera worked as a lawyer for the Dutch law firm NautaDutilh where she completed a post-graduate course in trademark law at the Grotius Academy in 2002. In 2004 Thera started working as a company lawyer for Unilever where she acquired much hands-on experience. In 2005 she became an employee of a law firm again, namely of the international law firm of Simmons & Simmons where she chaired the Dutch life sciences sector group. Since September 2008 Thera has been working for Leijnse Artz.
