Administrative and Environmental Law
Conducting legal proceedings for and against government authorities is one of the main areas of expertise at Leijnse Artz. These proceedings involve issues on (environmental) permits, enforcement issues (for instance orders for periodic penalty payments or other administrative orders), disputes relating to government liability, refusal or withdrawal of subsidies, liability arising from soil pollution, (export of) waste products, and decisions affecting the legal status of civil servants. Leijnse Artz acts on behalf of citizens, companies, as well as government bodies.

Leijnse Artz can help companies in numerous ways, for instance by drawing up agreements, assisting with negotiating processes and advising on the design and auditing of a company's internal organisation. As experienced practitioners of procedural law, we can of course also assist in various disputes, ranging from internal disputes between company bodies or participants in collaborative projects ('corporate litigation'), in cases of directors' and officers' liability, and in disputes with suppliers or clients ('commercial litigation'). In our arbitration practice, proceedings are conducted mainly in the English language. Financial and Economic (Criminal) Law
Companies are required to implement and comply with various planning regulations, which are enforced by administrative or even criminal law. The regulations relate to a wide range of fields, such as the environment, safety, hygiene, privacy, finance and taxes, and they are highly complex. Leijnse Artz advises on legal and compliance issues, so that enforcement risks can be assessed and avoided as much as possible. Of course we also act on behalf of companies, managing directors and supervisory directors in administrative or criminal law enforcement proceedings.

The legal landscape of the research-oriented pharmaceutical industry has changed dramatically in the past ten years. As a result, the pharmaceutical industry has had to overcome many challenges. The new Medicines Act, discussions on the Dutch Drug Reimbursement System (Geneesmiddelenvergoedingssysteem; ÔGVSÕ), the financing of expensive medicinal products, the introduction of biosimilars and the various, often European-driven developments in the areas of drug research and advertising legislation are only a few of the developments that will create even more challenges in the future. Leijnse Artz advises a large number of the leading pharmaceutical companies in all legal areas - civil, criminal and administrative. Leijnse Artz has extensive expertise in the field of medicinal products (human and veterinary) and related products, such as medical devices and health products. Leijnse Artz focuses on pharmaceutical advertising law (such as advertising claims for medicines, the ban on public advertising for prescription-only medicines, sponsoring and the provision of inducements, gifts and hospitality). Leijnse Artz also provides legal assistance on issues relating to compliance, clinical trials on medicinal products and medical devices (research contracts, the drawing up of standard contracts and the assessment of SOPs) and on matters concerning marketing authorizations for (human and veterinary) medicinal products, pharmacovigilance, and the conformity assessment of medical devices. Furthermore, Leijnse Artz has in-depth knowledge of the pricing, financing and reimbursement of pharmaceutical care (medicines for hospital use: inclusion in the Guideline concerning expensive medicinal products, as well as medicinal products for use outside a hospital: inclusion in the GVS) and pharmaceutical care and services (pharmacists, chemists).
